Amee K. McNamara       Paintings, Portraits, Illustration and Beaded, Soutache & Polymer Jewelry

I was in a seventh-grade art class when the teacher told us to look--really look--at the colors surrounding us... to look at a white wall and see the dozen or so shades of blue and lavender, to look at sunlight on the brown linoleum floor and recognize the washes of gold and yellow and peach. That may well be the point at which I became slightly--umm--unhinged. Suddenly, it was no longer  enough to see "in color;" I look at things long enough and I become entranced,  seeing instead "color-in-color."

All of my artwork--my paintings, portraits, illustrations and jewelry--are created in the hopes of sharing what I am seeing. (I have long since discovered that trying to simply explain it to people results mostly in nervous laughter and women protectively taking hold of their children's hands...)
